CS373 Spring 2020: Sonali Bhat
Post #5!

What did you do this past week?
This past week, I’ve been working with my group to start our web app project! We’ve been working with AWS to get our website up! We have been using react to start setting up some front end stuff. I have been working on a logo for our project, which is exciting because art is a hobby of mine!
What’s in your way?
This past week was pretty rough for me due to having an exam in another CS course as well as a project in another. I had trouble finding the time to dedicate to this class.
What will you do next week?
Next week, I plan to work with someone from my group to use Postman to design an API for our project.
What was your experience of iteration, AWS, and Chef Secure? (this question will vary, week to week)
I thought the intro to AWS was really helpful. I’ve never had much experience with cloud computing, so I found the lecture by Hannah to be really useful. It was also really cool to have the CEO of Chef Secure come by to talk for us. It was interesting to see things through a security perspective. My group also found the website codepen that he used to try out the code to be useful. It let us try out code in HTML, CSS and JS to see how it would look.
What made you happy this week?
I had a really fun time working on a logo for our project! I love art, but I find it had to make time for it during the semester. This was a good way to feel like I was working on stuff for class while doing something that makes me happy.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
Its important to set goals for yourself that are reasonable! Thinking about things in terms of little goals can make big tasks feel smaller. It can also help you make sure that you keep on track! If the goals are too hard to achieve, it may be discouraging and have negative effects.
