CS371p Spring 2021: Sonali Bhat

Hi! My name is Sonali Bhat and this is my first post in a series that I will be writing as I go through CS 371p: Object Oriented Programming!

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Plano, Texas!

What was your favorite extracurricular activity in high school?

My favorite extracurricular activity in high school was Band! I used to play the flute during Concert season and switch to the Front Ensemble during Marching season!

Why are you in this class?

I chose this class to get a stronger foundation in object oriented programming fundamentals and improve on my knowledge of using software engineering tools.

What are your expectations of this class?

I’ve taken Software Engineering with Professor Downing before (and I really enjoyed it!) so I think the style of the course will be pretty similar. From my experience taking SWE, I believe that this class may require a decent amount of work outside of class to succeed.

How much C++ do you already know?

I have done some work with C++ before. I’m familiar with pointers and some other unique features of C++, but I wouldn’t say that I’m fully proficient in it.

How did you feel about the cold calling?

I think the cold calling and required interactions can seem a little intimidating at first, but it will get easier as we go. I appreciate how there isn’t too much focus on someone if they don’t know the answer.
